Last year Pope Francis told a 50,000 strong congregation of Catholics “I expect you to share Baptism in the Spirit with the whole Church.” So what was he talking about?
Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a simple, life-transforming gift of renewal that 150 million Catholics worldwide have experienced. It involves saying “yes” to allowing the Holy Spirit to work more deeply in our lives.

Catholic Faith Exploration (CaFE) has produced a six to seven session TV course for parishes, groups and individuals to explore what this means and how to do it. It’s a non-threatening, relaxed, and practical course whose presenters include David Payne and Jenny Baker. Bishop Patrick is keen that we use this resource in all parishes of the diocese. To this end, priests and laity from a large number of parishes experienced the course with him in November. I was one of those who attended. It was a powerful yet calm experience which continues to reap rewards in terms of deepening my faith and my relationship with God.

So at the Bishop and the Pope’s command, we intend to run the course after Easter this year. We hope to run both an evening and day time session so that as many as possible can come :

The evening sessions will be at 7.30 pm on Tuesdays at St Margaret’s Duffield on the following dates:
25 April, 2 May, 9 May, 23 May, 30 May, 6 June and 13 June.

The day time sessions will be on Monday afternoons at 1.30 pm at Our Lady’s Belper on the following dates:
24 April, 8 May, 15 May, 22 May, 5 June and 12 June.

The session will last around an hour and a half and if there is a need, we will provide crèche facilities on Monday afternoons. We have timed these session so that they would be convenient for parents who may have to pick up children from school.

Don’t worry of you can’t go to all of the dates- you can also alternate between day and evening session if that suits you.

There are sign up lists in both churches, but do not hesitate to sign up by phone or email to Anne Halliday on 07795268940 or
